ASTM grants biojet annex for hydroprocessed esters
Subcommittee D02.J0 on Aviation Fuels in ASTM Worldwide Committee D02 on Oil Products and Lube formally approved adding the jet fuel annex for the alternative fuel specs D7566 titled “Standard Specs for Aviation Turbine Fuel That consists of Synthesized Hydrocarbons”, which now allows up to 50/50 combination of biobased components with conventional Jet-A power. The completely new annex sets fuel characteristics for what’s referred to as “Hydroprocessed Esters and Fatty Acids” (HEFA) fuel depending on biomass feedstocks for instance camelina, jatropha or algae, additionally to production control criteria in the fuel for aviation use. A German court has started proceedings about the Thai government’s request the discharge of HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn’s plane impounded at Munich airport terminal by German liquidators since Tuesday.
